The new Foreign Minister of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Francisco Bustillo, stated this Monday that Venezuela is being held hostage by a dictatorship, during the presentation ceremony of his administration in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“According to international law, the democratic norms that we have given ourselves in our America, my own conviction, that of the President of the Republic and that of the entire government and I have no doubt, not any more than that of any inhabitant born in the land of Artigas, with freedom I neither offend nor fear, Venezuela is a dictatorship,” he stated
The head of Uruguayan diplomacy said that the government he represents will continue to accompany Venezuela in the search for a peaceful solution to the regime, but warned that he will not promote dialogue until there is a willingness by the dictatorship to move forward with solutions.
For this reason, he said that Uruguay will raise its voice for Venezuela in every international space where it is present.
