The Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken, held a telephone meeting with the President-Elect of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, with the aim of aligning strategies for the fight for democracy in Venezuela.
After the meeting, the State Department indicated through a statement that “both ratified that they will work with their allies to restore democracy in Venezuela.”
Similarly, Blinken pledged to support Ecuador, which to date has received 430,000 Venezuelan migrants.
“To help meet their growing humanitarian needs,” he said.
On April 13th, the United States Government expressed its desire to work with Lasso, and his vice president, Alfredo Borrero, after they take office on May 24th following their electoral victory.
