From the Office of the President in charge of the Republic, we want to alert the National and International Public Opinion and our allied governments, about the disappearance of Mr. Juan José Márquez, uncle of the President (E) of the Republic, Juan Guaidó Márquez, which happened on Tuesday afternoon at the “Simón Bolívar” International Airport in Maiquetía.
Mr. Juan José Márquez was accompanying President (E) Juan Guaidó on the Tap Air Portugal flight from Lisbon, on his return to Venezuela after his successful international tour of Colombia, United Kingdom, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Spain, Canada and the United States of America, in order to accumulate capacities and align efforts to find a definitive solution to the Venezuelan crisis.
Mr. Juan José Márquez was detained by personnel of the National Service of Tributary Administration (SENIAT) in Maiquetía, being seen for the last time at 6:00 pm, reason why we presume that he is kidnapped by the dictatorship, as a new way to break the will of President Juan Guaidó, his relatives, friends and collaborators, carried out by Nicolás Maduro’s regime, which demonstrates once again its authoritarian character and in violation of human rights by carrying out forced arrests outside the Rule of Law.
For this reason, we ask all governments and institutions to denounce this fact and demand the immediate release of Mr. Juan José Márquez. This is another demonstration of why it is more necessary than ever to increase the pressure on the regime to the maximum, in order to achieve a genuine transition in Venezuela.
That is why we ask that you remain alert to the events that may occur at the hands of the dictatorship, and that we decisively move to a higher level of political and diplomatic pressure that will allow the liberation of our country since indifference is only a form of complicity.
