Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro indicated during his official visit to the United States that he will “do everything possible” to restore democracy in Venezuela.
The Brazilian president stressed that other countries in the region should be prevented from experiencing what Venezuela is experiencing thanks to socialism.
“We will do everything possible to re-establish democracy in Venezuela, but it is not easy. Because of the violation of human rights and the moral and political degradation we must prevent other countries in South America from experiencing what Venezuela is experiencing,” he said.
“Venezuela is the example of what we do not want to be. Our Armed Forces are on the side of democracy, not like the National Armed Forces in Venezuela. Having the military on the side of democracy is the antidote to the left that seeks to enslave its population,” he said.
Bolsonaro met with U.S. Senator Marco Rubio to discuss Venezuela and other issues of concern between the two nations.
