Former U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton said Maduro lied to the Washington Post about wanting to negotiate with the U.S.
“The only negotiations we should have with Maduro is what he wants for lunch on the plane that will take him into permanent exile in Cuba or Russia,” Bolton said through his personal Twitter account.
Maduro told the U.S. media that “with respect and dialogue” he could have a better conversation with the United States.
Bolton was President Trump’s National Security Advisor until September 2019.
The U.S. Special Representative for Venezuela, Elliott Abrams, said on January 10th that the U.S. government is analyzing new sanctions that will soon be announced against Nicolas Maduro’s regime. He assured that they do not rule out including the names of the deputies who participated in the seizure of the Federal Legislative Palace and in the failed attempt to establish a new illegitimate directive in the National Assembly.
