On the occasion of World Refugee Day, Leopoldo López Gil, deputy for the Popular Party to the European Parliament, expressed his solidarity with all Venezuelans who have had to leave their country as a result of the humanitarian crisis.
“The numbers of people leaving the country continue to increase. Today there are more than 6 million who have emigrated and probably by the end of the year they will reach 7 million,” said López Gil in a message published through his social network accounts.
Last Thursday was held the International Conference of Donors for the benefit of Venezuelan Migrants and Refugees, sponsored by the Government of Canada and the UN, where it was possible to raise approximately 954 million dollars that will be allocated to the migration crisis.
“I want to express all my gratitude to the receiving countries that are making a great effort to fight the pandemic and at the same time help those who arrive at their borders due to the serious crisis that Venezuela is facing as a result of its authoritarian regime,” said the MEP.
Finally, he also thanked the donor entities during the International Conference, for their humanity and commitment to defend the human rights of everyone in the world.
