The Christian Democratic Organization of America (ODCA), in the meeting of its Board of Directors held in Mexico City, Republic of Mexico, on September 19th of this year, unanimously approved the establishment of a higher political body of the Venezuelan Christian democracy to strengthen the role of this current of political thought in the struggle for freedom in Venezuela.
Understanding that the ODCA is the only international organization based in the American continent and regional branch of the Central Democratic International that legitimizes and promotes the instrumental use of Christian humanist doctrine for the integral transformation of the peoples of the continent promoting the search for the common good, social justice and the dignity of the human person. We consider it our duty to assume the responsibility of promoting this instance and instrument of struggle for those precious values in the sister Republic of Venezuela, given the difficult situation suffered by the Venezuelan Christian Democracy, victim of brutal persecution and the shameful cooperation with the Venezuelan dictatorship by some former members of that political community.
The Board of Directors of the ODCA has decided to invite Venezuelan leaders trained in the values of Christian humanism, with an impeccable resume of service to their country, in different roles and times, always professing the Christian Democratic ideal, to offer their contribution, through a body recognized and promoted by the ODCA, to strengthen the fight for the cessation of usurpation, a transition process and give back to the Venezuelan people the right to decide their own destiny in free elections.
In this Superior Council of the Venezuelan Christian Democracy, we consider necessary the incorporation of the Christian Democratic Party Copei in its condition of titular member of the ODCA, represented by its legitimately elected authorities. This Superior Council must be created to serve the cause of freedom and contribute from the Christian humanist prism in the reconstruction of Venezuela.
In ODCA we are convinced that this Superior Council of Christian Democracy of Venezuela will offer the Venezuelan people a political and ethical referent of the highest hierarchy to guide the national struggle for freedom in the very harsh circumstances that Venezuela is going through.
Christian democracy promotes a beautiful idea of a nation that needs, today as never before, detached and committed apostles who are at the service of this cause, for the good and for the good of Venezuela.
The ODCA will inform all its member parties, the member parties of the Center Democratic International (ID), and the parliaments of the democratic countries of the world about the constitution of this Superior Council of Christian Democracy in Venezuela and the purposes it pursues.
