The Secretary of State of the United States, Mike Pompeo, pronounced this Wednesday on the sanctions issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury against two members of Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship.
“The United States has designated the members of Maduro’s illegitimate regime who unfairly tried and condemned the Citgo 6 in Venezuela,” Pompeo remarked through a message on his official Twitter account.
Likewise, the head of US diplomacy stressed that “the reports of the proceedings represent only a theater for Maduro’s political purposes, not justice.”
In the morning, OFAC issued a statement in which it stressed that the appointment of Judge Lorena Carolina Cornielles Ruiz and prosecutor Ramón Antonio Torres Espinoza was made due to their participation in the unjustified imprisonment of US citizens in November 2017.
The U.S. has designated the members of the illegitimate Maduro regime who unjustly tried and convicted the Citgo 6 in Venezuela. Reports of the proceedings depict only theater for Maduro’s political purposes, not justice.
