Portugal on Wednesday condemned the crimes against humanity committed by Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship and committed to seek a solution for the Venezuelan people.
“Portugal thanks the FMM for the report, the update of the same and the extensive work done in the midst of the circumstances we are all facing,” said the spokesman of Portugal during the summit of the UN Human Rights Council.
Furthermore, the diplomatic representation added that “like the European Union, we are also deeply concerned about the humanitarian and human rights situation in Venezuela. We condemn the violations that have occurred. The protection and promotion of Human Rights is fundamental to ensure a lasting solution to the crisis”.
They also expressed their concern about Maduro’s crimes against humanity and the unwillingness of the Venezuelan regime to investigate the events.
“Portugal is committed with the Venezuelan people in the search for a solution. The conclusions of the FMM are worrying, Portugal deeply regrets the lack of cooperation by the Venezuelan authorities with the FMM”, they stated.
Finally, the Government of Portugal urged Maduro’s regime to allow the Fact-Finding Mission to enter the country, so that all those responsible for crimes against humanity are brought to justice.
