The President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Gabriela Cuevas Barron, warned that Nicolás Maduro’s regime is attacking the legitimate National Assembly and its deputies.
“Serious situation in Venezuela: serious threats against the board of directors of the National Assembly and its deputies due to the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice to close the Parliament, which violates democracy and human rights,” she said on Wednesday through her official Twitter account.
She also warned the entire international community and the Human Rights Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is part of the United Nations, of this attack.
This Tuesday, the illegitimate Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), which is under the command of Nicolás Maduro’s regime, declared the National Constituent Assembly led by Luis Parra to be valid. It also described as “null” the Parliament led by Juan Guaidó, which is recognized by 60 countries and dozens of international organizations.
