The Secretary of State of the United States (US), Mike Pompeo, declared on Monday on the sanctions issued by the Treasury Department against the seven corrupt members of the Clap faction who betrayed the National Assembly (NA).
“Those who stifle and repress Venezuela’s democratic aspirations will be held accountable. Today, the U.S. sanctions seven individuals aligned with Maduro involved in the failed takeover of the National Assembly. Venezuela’s security forces owe allegiance to the Venezuelan people, not to Maduro,” Pompeo said on his personal Twitter account.
On Jan. 5th, the pro-Chávez party and seven congressmen who gave in to bribes from Nicolás Maduro’s regime militarized the Federal Legislative Palace and tried to impose a new board of directors on the NA without the votes or quorum.
