United States Senator Marco Rubio reiterated that the government of President Donald Trump continues to work with the objective of returning democracy to Venezuela.
Rubio insisted that the U.S. has always been willing to collaborate in a “peaceful” transition that would achieve the exit of Nicolas Maduro’s dictatorship.
“We will continue to reject any effort to keep Maduro’s regime in power or use the talks as a delaying tactic,” he added on Monday through his personal Twitter account.
He also stressed that the U.S. has always been the main ally of the democratic cause in Venezuela. He even said that both the Democratic and Republican parties offer their support.
This Monday, President Trump also reiterated his support for Venezuela’s freedom. He assured that he will always be against the policies of Maduro’s dictatorship.
“I will always be against socialism and with the people of Venezuela. My administration has always sided with freedom and against the oppressive Maduro regime,” he said.
The U.S. government was one of the first to recognize Juan Guaidó as President (E) of Venezuela.
On February 5th, President Donald Trump received his Venezuelan counterpart, Juan Guaidó, at the White House. Prior to the private meeting between the two leaders, the White House issued a statement which explained that: “the visit is an opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of the United States to the people of Venezuela and to discuss how to work with President Guaidó to accelerate a democratic transition.”
We have always had some great allies on this cause in both parties.
But what is ridiculous is the criticism from Biden & those democrats who fought me on,blocked, opposed & criticized sanctions for years & had no problem with Obama meeting a Raul Castro who keeps Maduro in power https://t.co/UZLYYlzw1n
