Ivan Korcok, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, announced today July 1st, his country’s recognition of Acting President Juan Guaidó of Venezuela as the only legitimate authority representing and defending the interests of all Venezuelans.
This recognition is granted after the tireless diplomatic efforts of Ambassador William Dávila-Valeri before various bodies of the Slovak parliament and authorities, where he has spared no effort in presenting the case of Venezuela as a country kidnapped by a narco-terrorist tyranny that not only attacks its citizens, but also threatens the stability of the entire region.
With this announcement, 24 European countries now support the return to democracy and the rule of law in Venezuela which shows, once again, that despite the campaigns of discredit organized by the regime, the world is convinced of the urgent need for Maduro’s departure in order to put an end to the complex humanitarian crisis that the Venezuelan people are going through.
In this regard, Ambassador William Davila said: “The tireless work of the last 16 months in this diplomatic post has borne fruit, every day that passes Europe is more aware of the serious crisis that Venezuela is going through, that has been our goal, to get more political support, which allows us to exert more pressure.”
Dávila-Valeri stressed that this recognition confirms that “Europe understands that in Venezuela there is no power struggle between political groups as the regime tries to make out, the dictatorial character of Nicolás Maduro is evident, it is a criminal regime that attempts against the stability of the region and the western peace as we know it.”
