THe International Democratic Center recognized Juan Guaidó as President (I) of Venezuela and the National Assembly elected in 2015

The Central Democratic International (IDC) approved a resolution ratifying the legitimacy and recognition of Juan Guaidó as president in charge of Venezuela and the National Assembly elected in 2015.

The organization published a statement in which it states that it declares Nicolás Maduro’s regime a serious threat to the Western Hemisphere considering that it is a tyranny that commits crimes against humanity, that has turned Venezuela into a drug trafficking state, and that it seeks to perpetuate itself in power through all kinds of unconstitutional maneuvers.

Similarly, the IDC promised to articulate the efforts of democratic nations, as well as the institutions in charge of ensuring justice, to bring Nicolás Maduro’s regime before international courts, within the framework of the Palermo Convention in against international organized crime.

The approved resolution also establishes, “to ratify as legitimate the recognition of the National Assembly elected in 2015 and its constitutional mandate to represent the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people and Juan Guaidó as president in charge of the interim Government of Venezuela.” Warning Nicolás Maduro’s regime that there will be serious consequences if they violate the integrity of President Guaidó.

To conclude, the IDC pledged to closely monitor the development of the defense of democracy, human rights, freedom of expression and political guarantees in Venezuela.
