The Kingdom of Norway issued through its social network accounts a joint statement from the Unitary Platform and the regime after the day of negotiations that took place this Monday, August 6th, in Mexico City.
The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs specified that in this session they agreed to establish mechanisms for restoring and obtaining resources to meet the social needs of the population, with special emphasis on the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
They also signed the Agreement for the Ratification and Defense of the Sovereignty of Venezuela over Guayana Esequiba.

The Table of the Dialogue and Negotiation process on Venezuela, installed in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed on August 13th, 2021, met in Mexico City, United States of Mexico, from September 3rd to 6th, 2021, reaching two agreements entitled: “Agreement for the Ratification and Defense of the Sovereignty of Venezuela over Guayana Esequiba” and “Partial Agreement for the Social Protection of the Venezuelan People”.
The parties agreed to establish mechanisms for restoring and obtaining resources to meet the social needs of the population, with special emphasis on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, including those from multilateral organizations to which the Republic is entitled.
The parties agreed that the first point of discussion in the next round will refer to “Respect for the Constitutional Rule of Law.” In particular, the justice system and respect for the institutional framework established in the Constitution will be discussed.
Discussion will also continue regarding the protection of the national economy and social protection measures for the Venezuelan people, including the ‘Special Drawing Rights’, provided for this purpose by the International Monetary Fund.
Progress was made in consultation mechanisms with political and social actors that are as inclusive as possible.
Finally, they thank the Kingdom of Norway for the facilitation, the support of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Russian Federation and the host country, the United Mexican States.
