This Tuesday the United States Ambassador to Venezuela, James Story, supported the agreement proposed by the President in Charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, and the unitary alliance to solve the crisis in Venezuela.
“We support the efforts of Juan Guaidó and the Venezuelan opposition to peacefully restore democracy in Venezuela through free presidential and parliamentary elections. The solution to the crisis is a comprehensive agreement that leads to the result that Venezuelans deserve,” Story said through his social network accounts.
The US diplomatic representative stressed that the minimum conditions for the elections include the unconditional release of political prisoners, greater access to humanitarian aid, freedom of the press, and rehabilitation of political leaders and political parties.
Likewise, Story emphasized that all these conditions need to be met so that Venezuelans can freely choose their leaders.
Finally, he indicated that also attacks against civil society must stop.
“The United States and the international community will continue to press for concrete progress in these areas,” he concluded.
