Southern Command chief Craig Faller said Venezuela has become virtually a paradise for drug trafficking, narco-terrorism and all kinds of illegal activity.
Faller explained that Venezuelan territory is fundamental for the trafficking of illicit substances, which is why he highlighted the progress made in conjunction with Central American countries to combat drug trafficking in the Caribbean.
The U.S. official said Maduro’s regime, transnational criminal organizations and narco-terrorists are fueling a cycle of corruption that threatens democracies and undermines security throughout the region. “I see it as a vicious circle of threats.”
The U.S. military said it is time to put more pressure, which he described as relentless, on nations that could be enemies of the United States.
