U.S. State Department Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Michael Kozak confirmed that President Trump’s administration will remain committed to the Venezuelans in their quest for freedom in Venezuela.
“We will stand with the Venezuelan people as they struggle once again to make Venezuela a free and prosperous nation,” Kozak said through his official Twitter account.
The U.S. diplomat also reiterated the White House’s support for Juan Guaidó as president in charge of Venezuela.
“The United States will recognize and respect any politician who, through free elections, becomes president of the National Assembly. However, he expressed that he has “reason to believe that it will be Juan Guaidó”.
To conclude, Kozak pointed out that “the continent must unite for human rights and to put an end to the crisis that Nicolas Maduro has created in Venezuela.”
