James Story, US Commercial Attaché in charge for Venezuela, has assured that the Donald Trump administration does not want a military intervention in the country but a political, peaceful and democratic exit based on the Venezuelan Constitution.
“There is already a military intervention, there are Russian military in the country, Chinese and we know that there are a lot of Cuban military, why, because they want Maduro to stay there, because it is they who are getting the milk without buying the cow, who receive millions of dollars worth of gasoline”, added the US diplomat.
On the other hand, he added that to make elections with the country’s weak institutions is complicated, however, he claimed that the United States is sure to return to Venezuelan territory “sooner rather than later”, since the National Assembly will achieve the change that the people long for.
“The commitment of the US, working together with the interim president Juan Guaidó and his team of the National Assembly (AN) is still inside and outside Venezuela, we are supporting medical assistance days and also with food inside the country, it is a commitment we had, we have and we will have”, he said.
