The Embassy of the United States in Venezuela condemned this Sunday the parliamentary coup d’état carried out by Nicolás Maduro’s regime by unconstitutionally and illegally swearing in a board of directors for the National Assembly.
“What the regime is doing now in the National Assembly goes completely against the will of the people and the laws that govern the process,” they said in a Twitter posting.
“Democracy cannot be intimidated,” they added.
INTERIM GOVERNMENT ALERTS DEMOCRATIC WORLD
The Interim Government of Venezuela denounces before the Venezuelan people, the international community, democrats of the world and the Armed Forces that Maduro’s regime is preventing, using the State security forces, the access of deputies to the seat of the National Assembly in Caracas.
The aim of the dictatorship is to hinder the vote of the new leadership of the National Assembly and the re-election of Juan Guaidó as president of the parliament and head of the Republic.
Likewise, we warn the countries and organizations of the free world about the maneuver of the regime to elect a directive formed by a group of deputies linked to acts of corruption.
