The deputies of the Assembly approved on Tuesday an agreement about the labor and productive situation in the country, after the examination carried out by the International Labor Organization (ILO).
Deputy Rafael Veloz García denounced that harassment against Fedecámaras (Federation of Chambers of Comerce) and the labor unions in Venezuela persist. “Perhaps they never expected an oil rich country to manipulate salaries and use extreme poverty as social control.”
“The different social and political factors are certain that the only solution is political change”, said the parliamentarian who showed his solidarity to the Venezuelan educators who began a 48-hour strike on Tuesday.
“Soon the day will come when each Venezuelan can be a judge through the vote”, he said.
In this regard, “we present a proposal for an agreement to support the report of the survey commission designated by the ILO against the usurper regime where we require:
⁃ A commitment of the National Assembly for the protection of freedom of association, union and protection for workers
⁃ The demand for immediate measures to stop the climate of violence and persecution, respect to the right of defense, presumption of innocence and due process.
⁃ An electoral power that does not obstruct electoral processes.
⁃ That the Social Development Commission follow up on the proposal and bring about a reform in the Organic Labor Law so that the tripartite commission for the minimum wage is guaranteed, favoring the generation of incentives for national production and the reactivation of the productive apparatus
⁃ Investigation of officials who have incurred violations of freedom of association and trade unions that are human rights violations.
⁃ Send the report to the UN and the ICC
In this regard, deputy Arnoldo Benitez denounced “they are giving us Bs. 150,000 as minimum wage, forgetting that the Constitution establishes that the salary should be set according to the basic basket, and today that basket is around 6 million, while the food basket is above 3,700,000 bolivars.”
“On September 30th, the ILO report that condemns Maduro and ordered the release the workers and trade unionists detained by the dictatorship was known”, he said.
“In this sense, it gives Maduro a lapse until September 2020 to make all the corrections, but we are sure that there will be no correction here while Maduro continues to usurp the power. The worst enemy that the workers of Venezuela have had are the duo Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro”, he concluded.
Assemblywoman Liz Jaramillo announced that the dictatorship has suspended the salary of 18,000 educators for having made legitimate use of the protest.
“The salary has to be a reason for the promotion and progress of social mobility not a motivation for the diaspora. How does a teacher stand in front of a room on an empty stomach and tells his students that it is worth continuing to study? How does a nurse go to work if she doesn’t have shoes to go?” She asked.
The debate was closed by the first vice president of Parliament, Deputy Edgar Zambrano, who addressed the deputies of Madurismo.
“It’s not about, colleagues of the Psuv, establishing a rhetoric of what was, what is and what can be. It is the political action that will claim the relations on that tripod fundamental to the economy, development and growth of a country: The strength of the labor of society, private capital and the state. Without the combination of these elements, we are divorcing and denying the growth of a country”, he said.
“Respect and tolerance are part of the shortcomings that have resulted in the failure of the regime’s public policies. If there is no tolerance, political goodwill , you will continue to exhibit the failure that Venezuelans condemn today”, Zambrano added, recalling that the legitimate government will continue to work for the country’s recovery.
