The National Assembly on Tuesday denounced the serious crisis suffered by the country’s health system and the limited availability of vaccines, following the confirmation of two epidemics, yellow fever and diphtheria.
In the agreement approved by the parliamentarians, Nicolás Maduro’s usurper regime is condemned for its continuous and excessive military expenditures instead of attending to the health crisis.
The parliamentarians also criticized the fact that Maduro’s dictatorship hides the official figures, which prevents the design of appropriate plans to meet the emergency.
In the debate, Congresswoman Deyalitza Aray asserted that “this is an issue that cannot be treated with politicking, because we shouldn’t play with the health of our children, with those children who faint, who don’t get proteins. This is a rich oil state that is not capable of feeding the most vulnerable population.”
Meanwhile, Congresswoman Manuela Bolívar lamented that out of every three children, two have some degree of malnutrition.
“Today our children die from lack of food, they die from lack of vaccines. It is our responsibility to tell the country that there is yellow fever, it requires information from competent bodies, epidemiological fences, an autonomous humanitarian space so that international organizations such as Doctors Without Borders, United Nations, can act without any restriction,” she said.
“The revolution is going to leave us with irreversible problems, children with heart problems, with liver problems, with irreversible stunted growth because the dictatorship denied them a future,” added Bolívar.
Congressman Juan Carlos Velasco pointed out that “this regime knows the situation of the serious humanitarian crisis that is being experienced in the country. We see how they do not acknowledge in a gross way what is the sad reality of the health of Venezuelan children.”
“This is a regime that turns its back on the children, who with their attitude cut off their guarantees of life. The health crisis is irreversible in Maduro’s hands, being handled by incompetent people who have brought misery and pain to the Venezuelan people,” he concluded.
