National Assembly (NA) deputy Lawrence Castro condemned Maduro for bringing Iranian ships with gasoline to alleviate the crisis caused by his own government, and has caused Venezuelans to spend up to four days in line, while the military takes advantage of this to make a business out of smuggling.
“There is a crisis because they destroyed the entire PDVSA refining apparatus, spaced out the entire oil industry, and did the same thing they did to the economy: they destroyed national production. Venezuela has the largest refinery in the continent and if they had done things right it would not need to import gasoline, which is also paid for illegally with the gold obtained from the blood of thousands of Venezuelans who die in the mines. They continue looting the country,” he exclaimed.
“These ships are not going to solve the problem of gasoline because it will be used for the military to continue smuggling it and to supply the motorcycles of the buses and the repressive apparatus of the regime, to prevent the people from protesting against the famine that is happening. They have made Venezuela a country of smuggling, of informal economy, a country that is not very productive and has gone back to the time of horses, mules and carts”, he reproached.
Castro, a member of Parlasur, stressed that Maduro by making this alliance with Iran only shows that they want to continue doing business with sanctioned nations. “They want Venezuela to illegally lend money as a outlet and base for international terrorism”.
“Chavismo continues to try to spread the story of the bay of pigs and the Cold War, they want to make an international scandal about a possible blockade of these ships when this does not apply, because it is Maduro who is accused of money laundering and drug trafficking. The blockade that the ships may have is only Maduro’s responsibility because he is the one who is accused of drug trafficking at the international level,” he said.
The parliamentarian for the state of Merida, recriminated that now take these measures in the face of the crisis of gasoline, when in the interior of the country there is a shortage of fuel from 2012. “This is beginning to make a national issue because in Caracas there is a shortage of gasoline, but in the Andes it began long ago, when in 2012 they began to ration gasoline in Tachira with chips that reached the southern part of Merida and now we have no gasoline in the entire state, losing crops, people dying from lack of gasoline, it is important to note that for a long time we have lived this misfortune with gasoline, which has just arrived in Caracas”.
“The scheme they have proposed is the permanent blackmarket and smuggling, we will see in Caracas the indiscriminate sale of gasoline by the military, when this gasoline arrives from Iran,” he estimated.
Castro denounced that troops of the GNB sell the gasoline at 3 dollars the liter to those who cannot make the queues of up to 4 days in the service stations.
He also recalled that the shortage precedes the sanctions imposed by the United States to Maduro. “For a long time there was no gasoline because they preferred to steal the dollars rather than invest. Now we are the Venezuelans who are going through hardships while Vladimir Padrino López and the whole crowd of vagrants who run the Armed Forces are happy and content, scared, but enjoying the hunger and disaster into what they have turned the lives of Venezuelans”.
“We tell the people not to believe in pregnant birds (pie in the sky) that there is no war because that gasoline that comes is for drug trafficking and to continue repressing the people,” he concluded.
