The Deputy of the National Assembly (NA), Juan Pablo Guanipa, insisted that Venezuelan democracy continues to be held hostage by the criminal gang that usurps power.
Guanipa recalled that Nicolás Maduro’s regime prevented the recall in 2016 and that in 2017 they illegally imposed the National Constituent Assembly, which provoked the world’s rejection and prompted support from international democratic forces.
“Today we know that only together we can conquer the freedom and prosperity of Venezuela. We Venezuelans want to elect but we are impeded by the dictatorship that bought the National Electoral Council (CNE), disqualified politicians and imprisoned and tortured many military and civilian citizens, in many cases, to death,” he explained.
The first vice-president of the NA demanded the right to a life in freedom, to work, to have first class food and to be able to circulate freely in Venezuela. He also urged the reestablishment of the right to participate without persecution, to freely allow political parties with a true leadership.
“We have done a lot to resolve conflicts through peaceful and electoral means but the dictatorship prevents citizen participation. They (Maduro) prefer the electoral farce, they are afraid of the citizens because they know that the majority only wants an end to this tragedy,” he said.
Guanipa said the Venezuelan people want to live in democracy, vote and elect in freedom. He reiterated the call to political leaders to conquer the electoral conditions that will open the doors to freedom and prosperity of the nation.
“It is time for resistance, Venezuela will triumph,” he concluded.
Maduro hace una farsa porque tiene miedo al pueblo.
