The Government of Lara State, intervened the Rotary Hospital of Barquisimeto, by revoking in an irregular way the concession of the civil society called “Fundarosa” of Rotary International, which provides health services both preventive and curative, under the modality of self-management and donations from the private sector.
The announcement was made by Guillermo Palacios, deputy to the National Assembly for the state of Lara, who explained that this concession was signed on July 27, 1999 between the Governor at that time, Orlando Fernández Medina and the civil organization “Fundarosa” with the purpose of providing the community of Juan De Villegas’ parish with a health center that would allow them to have immediate access to medical assistance services.
“It is the practice that the regime has used to appropriate companies, organizations and funds that functioned successfully and that, when intervened on the grounds of putting them at the service of the people, have been broken and destroyed.”
He indicated that the inhabitants of the Juan de Villegas parish to the west of Barquisimeto showed their concern about the regional government’s plans to take possession of the facilities of the Rotary Hospital located in this populous parish in Lara State, catalogued as one of the largest on the American continent.
“The administration of this health center and the project as such has been in charge of it for more than 30 years through the organization Rotary International, who have watched over the proper functioning and the care of the people who live in this geographical space of Barquisimeto.”
Finally, he emphasized that the local regime wants to cover up the health crisis that exists here in Venezuela. He considers that the Rotary Hospital of Barquisimeto must be defended by the same community that benefits from this healthcare center. “We must ensure that the regime does not touch this hospital, since everything it touches it harms”. Congressman Palacios said.
Finally, the parliamentarian and resident of the parish, Alcides Pérez, reiterated that he is against this measure that has been taken against this healthcare center. “Let’s not allow this action to be carried out because the Rotary Hospital has many years working in favor of the inhabitants of the west by providing first class quality healthcare”.
