Guillermo Palacios, deputy to the National Assembly for Lara State, denounced acts of corruption in the extraction of gasoline by the region’s official bodies: the government, the mayor’s office and the National Guardsmen, through the method of supplying fuel to official vehicles, unloading it in gas cans and refilling it, and then selling the product on the black market for two and three dollars a liter.
“This modality has been running in the Municipality Moran, Lara State, where vehicles from the Mayor’s Office, with a filling capacity of 180 liters. They take them on the days there is gas, they fill up with gasoline at the service station, then they empty the tanks and return to the queue on up to three occasions, and this form of extraction is done with about three or four vehicles of this type, plus individuals who they also place in the queue,” revealed the parliamentarian from Lara.
He described this operation to extract and sell gasoline as the height of cynicism, in addition to violating a decree from the Lara State Government, which prohibits crowding, transit of people and commercial activities from 2 pm to 7 am the next day, with the exception of those destined for health and pharmacies through teller windows.
“Last night they opened the service station located at the entrance to El Tocuyo, a place called “La Alcabala”, to fill up with gasoline these vehicles and others of private ownership, taking advantage of the darkness and the lack of people due to the curfew”.
He assured that this corrupt operation gets them approximately four to five thousand liters of fuel that are placed on the black market at two to three dollars each. “This represents a scam to the citizens who are waiting for gasoline and cannot find it because of the pronounced lack of supply in the Venezuelan market, a product of the crisis that the regime has generated by destroying PDVSA,” said Palacios.
He informed that these acts of corruption will be timely denounced in the competent agencies so that they can be investigated. “It is not possible that while the citizenry is suffering from the gasoline crisis, there are privileged sectors of power that are taking advantage of the opportunity to profit and get rich.”
He recalled that previously there was the arrest of Mr. Victor Camacaro, Director of Municipal Finance of the Mayor’s Office of Moran, with 400 liters of gasoline, after having unloaded a tanker truck in the service station of the Guarico Parrish of that municipality, which was released by order of the mayor Gisela Rodriguez.
