“Not voting is not a mistake, mistake is to endorse illegal and undemocratic behavior,” said Carlos Prosperi, secretary of the National Organization of Acción Democrática and head of the Parliamentary Fraction of the Unity.
During an interview in the program “Vladimir en Punto”, he indicated that although they are a party that believes in free elections, Acción Democrática will not be an accomplice to the violation of Article 296 of the Constitution.
“We believe in an electoral solution to the crisis. Who has ever doubted that? Here it is not about believing or not in an electoral solution, it is about the existence of a National Electoral Council that is truly independent, autonomous and that we can have an end to the crisis through a credible and transparent electoral path,” he said.
Here there is only one AD
The ‘Adeco’ leader denied that there is any division within the party, despite the kidnapping of the electoral card (and symbols) and some party headquarters by a small group of collaborators.
“Here there is only one Acción Democrática. Those who thought that they were going to take away an important part of the party and its leadership, were once again mistaken. Here there is only one AD, led by Henry Ramos Allup,” he emphasized.
Prosperi pointed out that only three general secretaries of the 25 Sectional Executive Committees departed from the party line of the national leadership, so following the party statutes the general undersecretaries took over the reins of the three sectionals and keep on staunchly working for the country.
“The people of Acción Democrática are going to repudiate that card that a small group of ex-companions took to wash the face of Nicolas Maduro in a call (to elections) that is a frank violation of the Constitution,” he emphasized.
The current NA is going to continue
On the other hand, the also head of the Parliamentary Fraction of the Unity said that the current National Assembly will continue with its legislative mandate. “We have to continue exercising the mandate given to us by the people. The only way the current NA will not be here is if free and transparent elections take place,” he clarified.
Likewise, he assured that the United States will maintain its rejection of the policies of the ‘Chavista’ leadership, independently of the result of the presidential elections to be held on November 3rd in that nation.
“The United States is a country that manages bipartisanship. This rejection to the situation of Venezuela comes from the government of Barack Obama, who is a Democrat, and the policies continued with Donald Trump, who is a Republican”, he recalled.
He discarded that the critical national situation is due to the sanctions applied by the US government, by indicating that these have been imposed individually.
“The problems that Venezuela has is not because of the sanctions, that is a big lie. Here the only ones responsible for the crisis are these gentlemen that for 21 years finished up with our country, everything they touch is destroyed and they did not give the people solutions”, he emphasized.
