The Deputy of the National Assembly (NA), Maria Teresa Perez, denounced this Monday that the lack of domestic (cooking) gas in the country forces citizens to cook with firewood and this situation could generate lung impairment.
“Today we cook with firewood and we all know that firewood produces great respiratory problems in people,” she said.
The doctor explained that those who are constantly exposed to wood smoke can have exaggerated hyperbronchial reactions and could end up being asthmatic.
The parliamentarian for Lara State said that one of the most serious consequences could be to suffer from chronic obstructive broncho-pulmonary diseases, which produce lung destruction and in Venezuela there is no way to perform an organ transplant.
The congresswoman recalled that Lara State was a leader in kidney transplants, but with the arrival of the dictatorship of Hugo Chavez and Maduro, everything was destroyed.
“The regime destroyed it because it definitely does not care about the people, it does not care about the renal patients,” she concluded.
