Congresswoman Suarez celebrated that more than 2500 students receive training in the Climate Action Project

The President of the Education Sub-Commission and of the Social Development Commission of the National Assembly, Deputy for Lara State, Bolivia Suárez, informed that Venezuela in spite of the economic, political, social, technological and educational crisis, has managed to fulfill the objective number 4 of the ODS of the UN, with the participation of more than 2500 Venezuelan students in the Climate Action Educational Project.

This was announced by the parliamentarian from Lara, upon informing about the balance of week number 4 of the development of the Project of Action for the Climate in Venezuela, presented to the country by the Ambassador of this project and First Ambassador of Education of the ODS of the UN-Venezuela and Member of the International NGO AMB Global Child Poverty & Deprivation, Ydalith Figueroa Kad-Bay, within the framework of the commemoration of the International Day of Climate Change.

Deputy Suarez stated that the National Assembly will continue to subscribe to the commitment made by President Juan Guaido to develop the project in the formal education system, given the importance of environmental issues and care for the planet.

“All Venezuelans involved should feel proud of being the pioneers of such an important program and continue to be multipliers of the message and lessons we will learn in this project. The role of each of the facilitators is fundamental to achieve the objectives as well as the encouragement and participation students have had and will have.We must continue to assume the role with commitment and at a level that matches the scope of such an important program. We count on you, you can count on us, from the National Assembly we are at your disposal to achieve the objectives set,” said the parliamentarian from Lara.

On her part, Ambassador Ydalith Figueroa Kad-Bay, highlighted that this week 300 students were admitted from the formal education system into the project. She qualified as very positive the increase of the registrations in the project which formally started at the beginning of the school year 2020-2021, and today we can see an increase to 1200 students of Fe y Alegría, more than 700 students of ANDIEP, 400 students of Educational Institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Education, 300 students of the Rotary Club of Venezuela Rotaract D4370, and 100 students of Gente & Ciudad”.

The Venezuelan ambassador thanked the great support of Congresswoman Bolivia Suarez and Voluntad Popular party for facilitating the zoom platform, so that Venezuelan students can enjoy and interact within the “National Online Classroom Exchange”. She also thanked the “citizenship and moderation” of the webinar “Launching of the Climate Action Venezuela” of the NGO Gente & Ciudad, organization that culminated activities linked to the project.

Ambassador Ydalith Figueroa Kad-Bay revealed that this is the fourth week of the project’s execution, and the most important part has begun, which is to plan, build, design and realize the Local Action with a Global impact. She announced links with the international NGO “AMB Global Child Poverty & Deprivation” that finances the UN ODS Action Teaching course, led and designed by the ambassador of the Climate Action Venezuela project, and welcomes the new team, with whom she will share the two Classrooms of Educator Facilitators, which have more than 100 teachers, professors and lecturers from all over Venezuela, with the aim of making known the different points of view of relevant personalities at an international level.

“It is an honor as a Venezuelan to enjoy the First UN Teaching ODS Embassy Venezuela of Cohort 4 2019-2020, and together with the international founding team Teaching ODS of the UN Dr. Jenifer Williams and Koen Timmers, I take part in extending the invitation to all the Venezuelan Civil Society, to join the Cohort 5 of Teaching ODS Ambassadors of the UN 2020-2021.”

Ambassador Ydalith Figueroa Kad-Bay in the online meeting with Congresswoman Bolivia Suárez, was proud to echo such an important invitation to those who, with effort and dedication, have made themselves present in the Climate Action Project Venezuela and to Venezuelan Civil Society.

“With much effort over the years they have carried out veritable actions in favor of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. I wish them success in applying and achieving the goal of representing Venezuela in each of the global educational activities of the 2020-2021 period.
