The deputies to the National Assembly joined in the recognition of the Venezuelan journalists in their day, who daily face censorship, persecution and repression by Maduro’s regime.
Carlos Valero, deputy for Un Nuevo Tiempo, congratulated the Venezuelan union. “Happy Journalist’s Day! To all those who make this work a social service, to those who every day overcome censorship, risk their lives for the duty to inform and who, in spite of the adversities that the regime in Venezuela creates, fulfill the task of informing,” he said.
The Democratic Action party joined the recognition, in the words of MP Piero Maroun.
“Journalism in Venezuela is a battle against censorship and persecution by the regime. Today, Day of the Journalist, we honor his vocation and dedication. A union that faces media closures, unjustified firings, bad salaries, harassment, theft, arbitrary detentions and aggressions”.
For her part, Congresswoman Mariela Magallanes, for Causa R, said that “in Venezuela nothing is easy in this struggle, to see how rights are defended and even to feel the flame of freedom, is because of the courage of our journalists who risk themselves knowing that, for the regime, to report and tell the truth is a crime. Happy Journalist’s Day!”
Also then, the parliamentarian Omar González, congratulated the journalists on behalf of Vente Venezuela. “Our most sincere acknowledgement to our fellow journalists who honor the noble task of seeking and communicating the truth for the common good despite the persecution, harassment, and bullying of the narco-dictatorship that currently tyrannizes Venezuela,” he ended.
