The Deputy to the National Assembly, Delsa Solórzano, announced that the journalist Roland Carreño, a political prisoner of Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship, tested positive for COVID-19, and thus she demanded his immediate release.
“This is in addition to the serious hypertensive crisis that he suffered in recent weeks,” said Ms. Solórzano through her social network accounts in reference to the delicate state of health that Carreño has presented for weeks, and to whom the dictatorship has denied the right to receive medical care.
Ms. Ana Leonor Acosta, Carreño’s lawyer, reported that her client suffered an acute hypertensive crisis and difficult breathing last Monday, which together with the bilateral pneumonia that he suffers has seriously compromised his life.
“He has had a fever and malaise, so his condition is delicate,” added Ms. Acosta.
THE REGIME IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WHATEVER HAPPENS TO HIM
The President of the Foreign Policy Commission of the National Assembly, Olivia Lozano, blamed Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship and Judge José Macsimino Márquez, for the serious state of health of Roland Carreño.
Furthermore, she reiterated that Carreño’s lawyers had been requesting for weeks that he be taken to a healthcare center, requests that despite the seriousness of his condition were ignored by the regime, while his condition continues to worsen daily.
Likewise, the parliamentarian affirmed that this is not an isolated case, since other inmates of the regime are suffering from different pathologies that, if not treated in time, could lead to death.
“Medical attention is urgently needed for all political prisoners and their immediate freedom,” concluded Ms. Lozano.
