The deputy to the National Assembly (NA) for Vargas State, Cesar Alonso, denounced this Wednesday the serious situation that the population of his State is suffering as is the poor diet that the citizens suffer which prevents them from adequately face the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said that the fact that citizens who have been infected with Covid-19 do not enjoy a good diet should generate an alert, “there is a condition of weakness, vulnerability and fragility of most of the population as a result of poor nutrition that the citizens have endured, for not being able to access food,” he continued.
“Our population does not consume the necessary amount of calories, which depending on whether it is a man or a woman and the physical activity they do, should be around two thousand calories a day. The people of Vargas, like all Venezuelans, do not eat the proteins or the foods that contain the necessary nutrients so that the immune system has the strength to fight against this virus,” he emphasized.
Alonso expressed that, “there is desperation in the population, people are eating whatever they can get, there is no food, because they eat what they can access with a minimum wage that is not enough”.
The parliamentarian reiterated the state of vulnerability to this pandemic and the upsurge of other diseases and viruses such as Zika and Dengue, in which the people of vargas are in terms of health and food, especially children and the elderly, and there is no response by Nicolas Maduro’s regime.
Finally, he assured that they will continue to look for options so that Venezuelans can survive this terrible situation, through sister countries and international organizations that have the responsibility to provide real help that reaches every home directly.
