The Deputy to the National Assembly, Gaby Arellano, asked the international community to set up a commission from Venezuelan territory to promote a ceasefire in Apure.
“What is being mixed in the entire border axis, from Zulia, Táchira, Apure, Bolívar and Amazonas is a great cocktail of violence between paramilitary groups, Colombian guerrillas and new groups that have been formed under orders of the ‘Cartel of the Suns’ of the Venezuelan Armed Force,” revealed Arellano.
The parliamentarian indicated that what is happening on the border has already escalated to a level of violence in which diplomatic responses are no longer sufficient.
“We must act with a strong hand, with force against these terrorist groups to which Nicolás Maduro and Padrino López have capitulated Venezuelan territory and handed it over to these mafias for the undue exploitation of our land, drug trafficking, illicit arms trafficking, sexual exploitation and abuse, child recruitment and the trafficking of young people,” she said.
Furthermore, she pointed out that they accompany the request, to different NGOs and the United Nations, to define a High Commissioner for the border between Venezuela and Colombia and for the entire Arauca region to appear before multilateral organizations such as UNHCR, Unicerf, IOM, Caritas or Red Cross.
“Today it is the requirement and main request of the National Assembly that these organizations enter Venezuelan territory so that there is a ceasefire, reliable information is collected, and above all it is clearly determined how many casualties and what is the impact of these bombings,” she concluded.
