The President of the Foreign Policy Commission of the National Assembly, Olivia Lozano, blamed Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship for all the violence that has been unleashed in the last hours in Caracas.
“What we Venezuelans could never have imagined. The conflict and anxiety in which our citizens live on the border have been transferred to Caracas as a consequence of a usurping government that has dismantled the institutionality and ceded power to criminals,” Dep. Lozano said in a message posted on her social network accounts.
The deputy stressed that in the last hours there have been human displacements of honest, defenseless and unprotected citizens, who have abandoned their homes and their few belongings to safeguard their lives.
The parliamentarian for Bolívar State added that to the consequences of this armed conflict suffered by Venezuelans, we must add the already complicated life that an atrocious and criminal regime has forced us to live.
“Images that we only had references from great war crises like in Iraq and Syria, we see vividly today in our streets. Each one of these scenes hurts, each one of the testimonies of terrified people hurts. The only certainty they have is that of being able to die,” Lozano said.
Likewise, she warned that reactive actions to combat crime are not enough, since the country is immersed in a crisis of values caused by a dictatorship that has promoted hatred, and also social and economic dependence on a donor state that stimulates violence.
