Karin Salanova, a deputy in the National Assembly, denounced the health crisis in Venezuela in the face of the drastic increase in malaria and tuberculosis in the country.
“While Nicolas Maduro’s regime has spent 17 million dollars on Operation Scorpion to buy parliamentarians, the vaccination master plan barely has a budget of five million dollars,” Salanova said.
The parliamentarian said that according to official figures from the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization, the increase in these diseases in Latin America, has been generated as a result of the report of an increase of more than 800% of cases in Venezuela.
“Currently, there is no preventive system by the responsible agencies in the country to counteract the reappearance of these diseases that in some states were eradicated and in others, controlled,” she said.
“Malaria has increased in the country, as has tuberculosis, because there is no system to control or regulate it,” she ended.
