The Deputy of the National Assembly (AN), Delsa Solórzano, assured that the questions formulated by the rapporteur of the United Nations (UN), Alena Douhan, were biased.
“She sent a questionnaire that we tried to answer even though the questions were biased,” she said in an interview with a Venezuelan digital medium.
The parliamentarian also stressed that there are other UN rapporteurs who are waiting to enter the country. She said that Nicolás Maduro’s regime only allowed Douhan entry to hide the rest of its crimes.
“Why did they not allow the entry to the reporter on torture, the reporter on freedom of expression, or the reporter on arbitrary detentions? Why was the IACHR never authorized to come to Venezuela?” She added.
Regarding the xenophobic acts that Venezuelans have confronted abroad, the parliamentarian recalled that the nation welcomed many migrants such as Chileans and Spaniards when they needed it.
“The only way in which Venezuelans will not continue to flee is for there to be quality of life in Venezuela. Venezuelans are not leaving because we want to,” she added.
The President of the Justice and Peace Commission of the AN, assured that despite the threats of the dictatorship, the Legitimate Government of President (E) Juan Guaidó, will continue to denounce the violation of human rights and crimes against humanity in the international institutions.
“The violation of human rights cannot generate indifference,” she concluded.
This Friday, Alena Douhan, UN rapporteur, offered a report on the situation in Venezuela. During her presentation, she defended Maduro’s dictatorship and expressed that the sanctions issued by the United States are the reason for the deepening of the crisis in the country.
