The Deputy of the National Assembly for Bolívar State, Ángel Álvarez, denounced the unhealthy situation that citizens live in the popular markets of the country.
“The main municipal markets in Ciudad Guayana are a source of pollution: the ‘San Félix’ Wholesalers market, ‘La 45’ market, ‘Unare’ market and the ‘Chiricas’ market,” Mr. Álvarez said.
The parliamentarian referred, especially, to the ‘Chiricas’ market, where sewage and fecal refuse waters run around the entire enclosure. Faced with this situation and the accumulation of garbage in its surroundings, carrion birds have invaded the place, causing another great source of contamination by ticks and infectious diseases.
Despite the danger faced by people who go to these markets, Álvarez condemned that there is no sanitation or organization policy on the part of the corresponding entities to solve this situation.
“To this we must add the very serious situation of Covid-19 that we are living in the country, where there are no disinfection policies, no social distancing or the correct use of masks,” he emphasized.
