The deputy of the National Assembly, Oscar Ronderos, denounced this Tuesday that a frigate of the Venezuelan Coast Guard arrived at the island state, causing a new focus of Covid-19. According to the congressman, it was a boat with personnel that was in the Los Roques archipelago and later in La Guaira, without any follow-up of PCR tests in any of these locations.
Earlier in the ordinary virtual session of the National Assembly, the opposition spokesman stressed that the crisis on Margarita Island is the result of the “terrible response” of Nicolas Maduro’s administration, represented by Dante Rivas, the “protector” of the island.
“Nueva Esparta governorship was deprived of its health responsibilities in October 2019 in a speech by Nicolás Maduro from the municipality of Díaz, and now they are trying to blame Governor Alfredo Díaz to get him, even though he has no responsibility in the Health Department or its corresponding epidemiology unit,” he said.
After stressing that the epidemiological siege decreed by the National Executive and supported by Gov. Diaz continues to be violated on the island, the spokesman for the New Progressive Party in the Capitol said “this situation will worsen.”
