Once again was ratified the need to have real electoral conditions once the report presented by the civil organization SUMATE within the framework of the National Assembly session was presented.
Furthermore, the president of the electoral nominations committee, Congressman Angel Medina, said that under the electoral rules known so far, violate the provisions of the Magna Carta because “they are considering more than substantial changes to the electoral system with less than six months to the date imposed for the election, because it is an attack on the federal system of government, because the indigenous peoples do not know for sure how their representatives will be elected, because the modification of the circuits is again a manipulation of the system in favor of a political option.”
For his part, the parliamentarian Piero Maroun ratified that there are no guarantees for the full exercise of political rights, “the mere designation of the CNE rectors is an expression of the exclusion of broad sectors of national political life, the actions where political parties take away their legitimate representatives, the disqualifications, persecutions, the imprisonment of deputies and the exile of many others, it is evident that today a process is being proposed that denies participation to the main political actors of the nation by force, expression and action. The regime wants elections but does not want to compete, it wants to participate alone”.
Finally, Congresswoman Olivia Lozano said that this process limits the very possibility that Venezuelans can exercise their right to choose, that they can use their vote freely. “We are democrats and not abstentionists. Today an update of the Permanent Electoral Registry is being considered without the clear possibility that all participate, international observation is being denied again, which is a fundamental factor that offers confidence to each citizen, the very declarations of the military of the regime manifest the partiality of those who must guarantee security in a process like this and finally, the pandemic that we suffer today seems not to be an element for those who impose this process”.
