The First Vice President of the National Assembly, Juan Pablo Guanipa, regretted this Monday the death of the President of the Colombian-Venezuelan Wayuu Observatory, Nemesio Montiel Fernández, caused by COVID-19.
“The Wayú people lose one of their most genuine representatives. Nemesio Montiel Fernández leaves this earthly plane, a victim of the Covid-19 disease. He was a full-fledged Zulian who left his mark on the cultural, academic, educational and political areas,” Guanipa said through a message on his official Twitter account.
The parliamentarian for Zulia State stressed that Montiel Fernández fought tirelessly for integration and equal rights, preserving the cultural and traditional identity.
“He was always aware of the need for training and dedicated himself to it,” added the legislator.
Finally, the representative of the AN sent a hug to his family and a call to the Guajira population, the Zulian and Venezuelan people to keep his contributions and his legacy alive.
“Great Nemesio!” He concluded.
