The deputy for the State of Amazonas, Julio Ygarza, condemned and rejected the new special regulation of the CNE, which eliminates the political rights of the original peoples enshrined in the Bolivarian Constitution of Venezuela by replacing the direct, secret and universal vote of the indigenous people with the figure of “Community Assemblies”.
The parliamentarian indicated that the 2020 parliamentary elections, which the regime intends to carry out, are flawed from the start since the appointment of the CNE rectors by the illegitimate Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ). “The National Assembly has been clear in denouncing the violation of our Constitution by the appointment of the CNE rectors”.
He pointed out that this is a practice of the “regime and its corrupt collaborators” of violating the legal and constitutional processes, not only by making an appointment of the electoral authorities illegally, but by appointing as main director of the CNE, Judge Indira Alfonzo.”
“She is responsible for the biggest electoral fraud in Venezuelan political history, by not allowing the three deputies from the State of Amazonas, elected by more than 20 indigenous peoples, to be their voice in parliament”.
He explained that the creation of the special regulations by the CNE eliminates the direct vote for the election of indigenous representatives to the National Assembly that was applied five years ago and established a second degree suffrage process.
“This regulation, which is also unconstitutional, erases the political rights of the original peoples enshrined in the Bolivarian Constitution of Venezuela, by replacing the direct, secret and universal vote of the people with Community Assemblies by show of hands. These are neither uses nor customs of our native peoples. Each people has its own culture, worldview, and way of electing its own authorities,” Ygarza said.
He also said that the decision of this illegal electoral body to increase the number of deputies from 167 to 277, in addition to being illegal and unconstitutional, discriminates against native peoples. “They increased 110 national deputies, but the indigenous representation remained the same, three indigenous deputies to the parliament. The design of these elections is so that our peoples do not participate, 18 regional and six national indigenous organizations are being eliminated,” said Ygarza.
He explained that 70% of the indigenous communities are not even going to know, nor participate in this electoral process. “In the state of Amazonas alone, we have more than 4,000 communities and more than 20 indigenous peoples.”
“The parliamentarians that the regime and its corrupt collaborators intend to celebrate are designed to make the usurper hitchhike the names of the country’s indigenous deputies. The indigenous peoples of Venezuela do not know the special regulations of the CNE. We, the native peoples of Venezuela, recognize our Bolivarian Constitution of Venezuela,” he said.
