The Legitimate Government of President (E) Juan Guaidó, sent a message of encouragement to the people of Guatemala after its democratic system was attacked, and reiterated its support for President Alejandro Giammattei.
“We have the firm conviction that in a democracy any disagreement and difference in the management of government affairs and the implementation of public policies must be settled through pluralist and sincere dialogue between all sectors,” the letter reads.
Likewise, the Legitimate Government supported the request of the Organization of American States (OAS), to promote a dialogue that would achieve the stability of the nation.

From the legitimate government of Venezuela and from the National Assembly, we categorically reject the attacks on democracy and Guatemalan institutions in an attempt to subvert the constitutional order and governance, while deploring any manifestation of vandalism and public violence that distort the legitimate right to peaceful protest and freedom of expression.
As faithful defenders of democracy, we express our support for the democracy of the Republic of Guatemala and for the legitimate Government of President Alejandro Giammattei, who was legitimately elected by the majority of his fellow countrymen in free and transparent elections last year.
We have the firm conviction that in a democracy any disagreement and difference in the management of government affairs and the implementation of public policies must be settled through pluralist and sincere dialogue between all sectors of society, in a free, respectful and peaceful ways and through the spaces and institutional mechanisms established by the public powers within the framework of current legislation.
That is why, in accordance with the aforementioned, we support the Government of Guatemala in the request made to the Organization of American States (OAS), within the framework of the Inter-American Democratic Charter, to promote appropriate measures that facilitate achieving an inclusive national dialogue that allows an understanding with all sectors of the Guatemalan citizenry for the benefit of the preservation of peace, freedom, democracy and hemispheric stability.
