The deputy for Lara State, Luis Florido made a breakdown of the articles that contemplate the Universal Charter of Human Rights, on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of its creation, in order to illustrate and certify the systematic violations of rights in Venezuela by Nicolás Maduro’s regime, simply for thinking differently and dissenting from its erroneous policy of violence, corruption and death.
He stressed that on December 6th, the right to choose was taken away from Venezuelans, but that right was recovered on December 12th in the Popular Consultation. “This is a clear response to the right to rebellion, contemplated in the preamble of the Universal Charter of Human Rights, which we must exercise on January 5th.”
He assured that in Venezuela the right to life, liberty and security is violated, which are also contemplated in the articles of the Universal Charter of Human Rights, as well as Article 5 that states that no one will be subjected to torture or cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment.
“Precisely, regardless of some elements missing, we are going to highlight the affirmative. The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court ruled and acknowledges that crimes against humanity have occurred in Venezuela, that is very important. Previously, the report by the High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet also determined that there is torture in Venezuela,” Florido stressed.
He highlighted the types of torture that so many Venezuelans have endured, especially political prisoners, such as white torture, which is the one they use the most, because it does not leave scars on the body, but on the mind.
He specified that article 7 of the referred document says that everyone is equal before the law, without distinction they are entitled to equal protection of the law. Likewise, he referred to Article 9 that no one may be arbitrarily detained, imprisoned, or exiled.
“In Venezuela, these articles are also violated and there are the testimonies of the different Venezuelans who have been arrested, such as, for example, fellow deputies such as Juan Requesens, Gilber Caro, Renzo Prieto, Tony Geara, Roberto Marrero, Rosmit Mantilla, among others. Also, to all the soldiers who are forgotten and being tortured at this time,” remarked the deputy from Lara State.
He added that this document of the Universal Declaration must always be a call to affirm that what happens in Venezuela is not normal, that Venezuelans cannot get used to abnormality, that we are in very bad shape and that we have the right to citizen rebellion. .
“Venezuelans have the right to rebellion through action, to rebellion through rejection, through speech, but also rebellion in the streets, as on January 5th of next year when Venezuela returns to the streets to protest. A return to reclaim and demand. We are going to ratify in the streets what we expressed on December 12th through the Popular Consultation.”
He considers that it is necessary to send a clear message to the International Community that accompanies the Venezuelan people, which allows validating, not only the continuity of the legitimate interim government, but the recovery of the right to vote in truth, with guarantees, that allows things in Venezuela stand in their rightful place.
Finally, he lamented the deaths of Venezuelans in Güiria and so many others who have died trying to flee seeking a dream that Maduro’s regime took away from them. “Our feeling of regre, but also our call to hope, that the world is with Venezuela, that this type of declaration that we celebrate today and that gives life to the defenders, day by day, of human rights such as this National Assembly , they get and will get justice and reparation for the victims.”
