For Luis Somaza, Director of Citizen Services of the National Assembly, the protection measures that stand on CITGO are “another achievement of the international work carried out by those of us who accompany President Juan Guaidó.”
CITGO, Venezuela’s main foreign asset, received General License No. 5A from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, a protective measure that shields the state oil company from any embargo action.
“For more than two decades the narco-dictatorship dedicated itself to expropriating companies and indebting the country, all with the aim of financing its populist plans at the expense of the Venezuelan people’s pockets. It is precisely because of this irresponsibility that today CITGO, one of our most precious assets abroad, is in a vulnerable position against which we are fighting hard.
“Currently, the subsidiary of the state-owned oil company is demanded as compensation for the expropriation of the Canadian mining company Crystallex International, which is demanding 1.4 billion dollars in losses, following the measure of nationalization of the gold deposits of Las Cristinas, dictated by Hugo Chávez in 2008.
“As if that were not enough, in the case of CITGO, the Russian oil company Rosneft is also involved, because the regime asked it, amidst its incompetence, for a monstrous loan of 1.5 billion dollars and put part of CITGO as a guarantee.”
Likewise, the Director of the National Parliament assured that the resumption of the trial in the Delaware court “is the next step in legal matters, to defend the Venezuelan assets from the irresponsibility of the usurpers”.
Example of results
According to the Miranda State leader, the management of CITGO during the administration by the interim government has demonstrated the President’s ability to lead an efficient management “Today CITGO, with its three refineries in the United States, is processing 800,000 barrels per day, that is four times more gasoline than Chavismo’s PDVSA. CITGO is a small example of what can be achieved by removing the regime from power.”
“Chavez and now Maduro, took it upon themselves to sell and pawn the riches of our country. The embezzlement of our nation by the dictators is incalculable, the approximate amount of the debts that the regime has failed to pay is more than 150 billion dollars, putting at risk the country’s assets all over the world”.
“Only with the installation of the National Emergency Government, we will be able to provide the relevant solutions to improve the life of all Venezuelans.”
“We will continue to protect CITGO from bad pay Maduro, who along with his accomplices have only dedicated themselves to assaulting our nation,” he ended.
