The Delegate Commission approved an agreement that ratifies that the only entity that can designate the National Electoral Council (CNE) is the legitimate National Assembly, so it does not recognize the appointment of the supposed rectors of the electoral organism by the spurious parliament constituted through the fraudulent elections of December 6th, 2020.
Likewise, it states in the approved agreement, during the online session of the Delegate Commission held this Tuesday, the commitment of the legitimate National Assembly of Venezuela to the recovery of the democratic institutions and the reestablishment of full real guarantees, so that all Venezuelans can decide freely through the best mechanism of democracy, as is voting, by participating in fair, competitive and verifiable elections.
Likewise, they reiterate the willingness of the democratic forces represented in the legitimate National Assembly to advance in a process that allows a reliable electoral route to be agreed, which can solve the political crisis that Venezuela is experiencing.
They also request to all democratic states and international organizations to maintain their position on the invalidity of any processes convened in Venezuela by an un-constitutionally designated CNE, and consequently, continue to support the search for a negotiated, peaceful and democratic solution to the Venezuelan crisis.
Finally, the plenary made up of the different political forces, agreed to send a copy of the approved accord to international organizations.
Rectors hand picked by Miraflores
The debate on this matter began when the Second Vice President of the AN, Deputy for Carabobo State, Carlos Eduardo Berrizbeitia, took the stand to say that Maduro had announced on national television the appointment of his new CNE, because they will be rectors designated by Miraflores, they were chosen to oversee an electoral process that gives the regime and its party an advantage.
“The democratic forces reject this new aberration against Venezuelan democracy. I call on the political parties and leaders, that going to an electoral process in these conditions with a handpicked CNE would only help the regime to continue sustaining itself. A regime that has destroyed the family, the institutions, and has led to the very serious economic and social situation that we are living,” highlighted Berrizbeitia.
They want to stay screwed in power
For his part, the Deputy for Zulia State, Ángel Caridad, said that the narco-dictatorship wants to impose again the board of directors of the electoral public power in order to continue screwing itself into power bases in the municipalities and states.
He stressed that elections cannot be allowed to take place without minimum conditions, without respecting the will of the people. He recalled the former CNE where the directives were the product of large political agreements, with the participation of all actors, to solidify the democratic bases and maintain the autonomy of the electoral power and give institutionality and credibility to each process.
“We cannot under any circumstances disallow the participation of the only legally constituted body, which is the National Assembly elected in 2015. We have to, with national and international pressure, reach an agreement that allows a reliable participation, with good foundations, constituted with a technical point of view,” said Deputy Caridad.
Maduro wants to create a fake CNE
The State Deputy Miranda Freddy Guevara took the floor. He affirmed that in Venezuela there are no electoral conditions (to hold elecctions), people may attend an electoral process but their vote does not count, and recalled the saying “you vote, but you do not elect”, and the people of Venezuela and the Democratic Alternative, the alliance of unitary parties, want this political crisis to be solved in the fastest, best and least traumatic way.
“We want an urgent political solution, which is what the Venezuelan people want, to resolve our differences within the framework of a free election, but for that to happen there must be an arbiter that gives confidence to all Venezuelans, in which all political actors feel represented and is adjusted to the constitution,” said the Deputy from Miranda State.
He regretted that Nicolás Maduro and his party want to create a fake CNE, made up of people who will not comply with the standards of the constitution and that will only serve to deepen the crisis that must be resolved.
He argued that democratic factors are convinced that if you can reach any type of agreement that leads to a solution, they will accept it. This is sensible, ethical and logical. What we are not willing to do is support any agreement that will only keep everything the same.
“We are looking for a legitimate CNE, which is recognized by the international community and not one that is at the disposal of the regime and some factors that, moving away from the unitary majority decision, seek to find some space in which to develop their agenda.”
He questioned the democratic vocation of those who, knowing that to confront a dictatorship the unity of democratic forces is required. Unity that has the historical support of the vote and the international sector, that does not endorse and rejects a CNE that does not arise from a truly constitutional and democratic process. It cannot then be justified that some people and groups try to advance a parallel agenda that does not really represent the unitary will.
The regime refuses to respect the Constitution
Finally, the 1st vice president of the AN Deputy for the state of Zulia, Juan Pablo Guanipa, intervened. He considers that it is essential to end the terrible crisis that afflicts Venezuelans caused by Maduro’s regime, it is essential that free, fair and verifiable elections be held in all spaces.
He assured that the regime that knows itself to be the loser refuses to respect the constitution and the dignity of Venezuelans, in that sense the regime has announced that in the next few hours it will make an unilateral appointment of a supposed CNE.
“With this they show that they have no intention of solving the deep crisis that they have generated. They cannot pretend to act disrespecting the constitution and designate a CNE without balance or transparency, with that all they reflect is that they fear the citizens who are tired, detest them and aspire to be able to breathe democracy, freedom, opportunities and progress ”.
He reiterated that before the national and international community they are willing to initiate a process of comprehensive agreement, which is the product of a true negotiation and that allows free elections to be held and it will be the citizens who have the last word. This will be achieved with the participation of our international allies and those of Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship.
