Deputies of the legitimate National Assembly condemned that in Venezuela still there is no massive vaccination plan and, whatever has been initiated, excludes the most vulnerable adult population, while complaints arise of a black market for vaccines, presumably coming from the Military Hospital, from where they sell vaccines at $ 300 to $ 600 per dose.
This complaint arose during the debate on the COVID-19 crisis in the country and the vaccination alternatives for Venezuela, which was made during the online session of the Delegate Commission of the legitimate National Assembly.
The debate was started by the Deputy , Virgilio Ferrer, who represents the indigenous peoples of the West of the country. He maintained that there is an exaggerated growth of COVID-19 infections and humble people die every day and as an example, he mentioned the cases that have been registered in the State of Zulia. Unofficially 39 people died in a single day.
He denounced that Maduro’s regime and his “clique” have no scruples, they brought some vaccines to the country and only the leadership of the dictatorship and its officials were vaccinated, others apparently are selling them on the black market, a situation we are investigating.
“This is a genocidal, homicidal, criminal regime that makes Venezuelans raise our voices every day and stand up in search of a way out of this regime so that Venezuela can be reborn,” said Deputy Ferrer.
He indicated that the only thing that interests this regime is to perpetuate itself in power at the expense of the suffering and calamity of the Venezuelan worker, who today “is dying of hunger and is joined by the pandemic that ends up annihilating him.”
State of Defenselessness
For the deputy for Falcón State, Ricardo Aponte, the health crisis has worsened in the country during this second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, and this is made clear by the substantial increases in infected and deceased persons.
“The Venezuelan people are at the mercy of the COVID-19 virus and these gentlemen do nothing for the people, the only thing the regime has done is improvise without providing effective solutions,” said Deputy Aponte.
He condemned that at the present time, when this virus ravages the population and kills doctors and workers in this important sector daily, they still lack the biosafety equipment and the necessary supplies to face this pandemic and the indifferent regime does nothing about this situation.
He reported that from April 19th to May 10th, 82 people who died from COVID have been registered in Falcón State, while the regime in that same period recorded only 6 deaths in the region, a difference of 76 only in Falcón State.
He advocated for an urgent vaccination plan for the entire population without exclusion and argued that this legitimate NA is investigating a possible criminal black market for vaccines at prices that exceed $ 300.
Irresponsible and criminal dictatorship.
The deputy for Carabobo State, Deyalitza Aray, said that the criminal and irresponsible attitude of Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship is maintained in time and results in the loss of human lives, the deaths of exemplary citizens who are victims of the COVID-19 infection.
“The way the pandemic has been handled in the country has been criminal. In other nations we see their authorities providing resources so that plans and purchases of vaccines necessary to immunize the population are made, providing hospitals and healthcare centers to serve their citizens. In Venezuela it is the other way around, they just create false expectations, that the pandemic has given way, when all that is false.”
She said that there are no PCR tests to detect COVID and even less planning to undertake a mass vaccination program, while doctors and nurses, parish priests, journalists, friends and family die every day, because we do not have the conditions to face the pandemic.
“The only way to contain this pandemic is with a vaccination plan without exclusion. We demand that this plan be started now. From this legitimate AN we have given conditions, resources, we have made ourselves available and we have complied with the proceedings of the COVAX mechanism, and only the whim, pride and above all the great irresponsibility of the regime has delayed the possibility of aquiring vaccines for the country.”
Black Market for Vaccines
Finally, the deputy Dinorah Figuera intervened, refecting with concern on systematic complaints about a possible black market sales of vaccines, and that the center of this trade would presumably be the Military Hospital.
“We know of cases where these COVID-19 vaccines have been sold for 300 and 600 U.S. dollars, for the two doses that are needed for immunization. This situation is reprehensible and criminal. While Venezuelans die, these criminals trade with vaccines that are the health of the people.”
She stated that this legitimate AN has complied with the activation, through the COVAX mechanism, so the vaccines arrive in the country, which would serve for the immunization of most Venezuelans, especially the most vulnerable, and to date Nicolás Maduro’s regime has not taken measures that generate the confidence that Venezuelans will definitely be vaccinated.
