The deputies of the National Assembly approved, in second discussion and unanimously, the bill for the organization of the Council of the Comptroller of the Republic.
“The idea is to provide a legal framework for the action, organization and operation of the Council of the Comptroller and the Special Comptroller. Who will be in charge of providing surveillance, supervision and correct administration of the rescued assets,” said Deputy José Pratt, at the beginning of the debate.
Furthermore, the parliamentarian stressed that “since the usurpation, public resources have been squandered, without any kind of control and without the people of Venezuela being a priority. In view of this situation, we are presenting this law, and we intend that the resources we have approved and will approve be managed with total transparency and within an indispensable legal framework”.
“We know that, during 21 years of opacity, lack of control, excessive corruption, looting of the public coffers has enabled the destruction of institutions and the separation of powers,” he added.
Likewise, the president of the Comptroller’s Commission assured that “Venezuela is entering a new stage, after 21 years of opacity the time has come to do things differently, to fight corruption and to demonstrate that it is possible to govern with transparency,” he said.
“You can govern without stealing, we are going to show that you can plan public spending and that money can get to where it was intended. We will give clear signs of transparency, efficiency and clean administration,” he ended.
