The National Assembly through the Delegate Commission approved to authorize the President in Charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, to request debt from the Central Bank of Venezuela for an amount of 10 million 136 thousand 084 U.S. dollars and 17 cents (USD 10,136. 084,17), destined to pay of the debts incurred with law firms that have represented the Venezuelan State and its decentralized organs in foreign courts and tribunals in lawsuits concerning the defense, protection or recovery of assets of the Venezuelan people, as were recognized by this legislative body on January 12th, 2021.
The deputy for Lara State, Guillermo Palacios, requested the modification of the agenda in order for the delegate to approve a draft agreement to modify items that are related to the payments of litigation abroad and with the recovery of assets in other countries, which was approved.
The agreement was approved unanimously by the deputies present at the session of the Delegate who also approved the new debt, it was agreed to authorize the Expense Administration Council to carry out the necessary steps for the payment and expenses that may be due by virtue of the indebtedness requested by the President-in-Charge of the Republic, acting as paying agency, after ordering commitments and payments made by the Special Prosecutor’s Office in the cases that correspond to the Republic or the highest authorities of the decentralized organisms.
Finally, an additional credit was authorized for the amount of the loan to be requested by the President-in-Charge of the Republic, which will be transferred to the Litigation Fund, so that the Council of Administration of Expenditure, dependent on the Interim Government of the Republic, makes the corresponding payments.
