The Presidential Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, Julio Borges, denounced on Wednesday that Venezuela is one of the countries that least contributes to the reversal of climate change in the world.
The regime’s failure to use proper procedures in the oil industry irresponsibly releases immense amounts of methane into the atmosphere.
“The oil spills are constant due to the obsolescence of the oil infrastructure, there are no contingency actions and the national industry does not make any investment in environmental management,” said the diplomat through his official Twitter account.
Borges also highlighted the serious damage caused to the Arco Minero by Nicolás Maduro’s regime, as its exploitation has caused massive damage to the environment.
In the Arco Minero, gold, diamonds, bauxite and other minerals, are exploited indiscriminately every day which money does not reach the people. The same money is used by the dictatorship to stay in power, protecting irregular gangs and narco-terrorists.
Last Tuesday, in the National Assembly, the president in charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, announced the creation of the Presidential Commission for the Mining Arc, which will aim to investigate and denounce nationally and internationally the ecocide occurring in the Orinoco Mining Arc.
The commission will be headed by the deputy of the National Assembly, Américo De Grazia, who will be accompanied in his work by deputies Mauligmer Baloa, Ángel Medina and Ramón Flores.
This commission will seek to integrate organizations, indigenous communities and individuals who have investigated and denounced the impact of the Arco Minero, and thus unify all efforts to stop the ecocide.
Yesterday, during the United Nations Climate Change Conference in 2019, the Venezuelan Ambassador to France, Isadora Zubillaga and the National Assembly Member, Americo De Grazia, presented the tragic situation of the Venezuelan Mining Arc and its serious environmental implications to the co-president of the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly, Javi López, and the President of the Socialist and Democratic Group in the EP The Progressives, Iratxe Garcia Pérez.
