The presidential commissioner for foreign relations, Julio Borges, condemned the severe torture ordered by Nicolás Maduro against GNB sergeant Luis Bandres Figueroa.
Borges explained that this “is one of the most chilling cases documented by the Mission. He received electric shocks and was raped. All for defending the FANB and the Constitution.”
For this reason, he called for his immediate release so that he would no longer be subjected to brutal torture. “We demand his freedom and that of all the military men unjustly detained.”
“Maduro has built, with the support of Cuba, centers where our officers are tortured,” he explained.
Furthermore, the head of diplomacy of the Legitimate Government recalled that the Mission has denounced the so-called Room of the Madmen in the DGCIM, “a space conditioned to subject people to physical and psychological torture,” he concluded.
